Barua, along with Ancholikatabad Suraksha Mancha’s Chief Convener Arup Borbora, on Wednesday informed about the launch of a new political party in Assam with the aim to pave way for proper development in the state.
The Ancholikatabad Suraksha Mancha will initiate the formation of the new party. However, no major party’s names have been associated with the party.
Speaking with Inside Northeast, Arup Borbora said, “Yes, a new political party will soon come up. Discussions are on regarding the same.”
According to media reports, the two have already ventured into the promotional process of the party in the state. Jahnu Barua, however will be refraining from joining active politics.
It may be mentioned here that post the passage of Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha and enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act, there has been talks about a new political party in Assam.
Filmmaker Jahnu Barua’s name association with a new political party has further given a new turn in the political scene of Assam. With the leading Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Asom Gana Parishad’s presence, all eyes will be on the new party and its offers for the public.
