Kokrajhar, January 16, 2020:

The Indian Army has neutralized a cadre of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland-Saoraigwra (NDFB-S) during an encounter in Assam’s Kokrajhar.

The Army had launched a search operation in Kokrajhar’s Diglipara area on Wednesday night. Based on specific input, they had carried out the ambush operation. According to reports, the officials spotted the cadre near Dekadamra.

The cadre had opened fire on the officials sensing danger. The team retaliated by opening controlled fire thereby exercising right of self-defense. The cadre, identified as Jewel Narzary alias Tamang alias Jwnwn, later succumbed to the injuries.

Narzary, who hailed from Kokrajhar’s Thaisiguri, was engaged in extortion activities, recruitment of new cadres and anti-national activities, said the personnel. During the search of encounter site, they seized one foreign made 9mm Glock Pistol, two magazines and ammunition.

It may be mentioned here that another NDFB (S) cadre was recently killed by security forces and police during an ambush in Assam’s Chirang district on January 5.
