Madhav, while addressing the mediapersons in Vadodara, Gujarat, also said that the remaining 20-25 political leaders will be freed soon.
Madhav informed the mediapersons that the detainees would be released in phases and batches and said that J&K was like any other part of the country.
It may be mentioned here that Supreme Court on Friday directed the government to review its orders on unlawful assembly (Section 144) and Internet suspension in J&K within seven days, followed by weekly periodic reviews.
It also asked that all orders on Internet suspension and travel restrictions be published to enable legal challenges.
While hearing a petition challenging the internet shutdown on Jammu & Kashmir, the Supreme Court said that freedom of internet is part of freedom of speech. It said that internet services are intrinsic to right to free speech and it cannot be suspended without providing proper reasons.
It may be mentioned here that J&K has been under lockdown since the abrogation of Article 370 in August.
