A mild intensity earthquake measuring 3.5 magnitude on the Richter Scale shook the West Khasi Hills of Meghalaya on Wednesday, even as the people of the State were engrossed in Christmas festivities.

The 3.5 magnitude earthquake was reported at around 9:14 am in the morning.

Reportedly, no damage to property or casualties has been announced so far.

According to India Meteorological Department, the epicenter of the earthquake has been located at West Khasi hills.

The earthquake struck the region at a depth of 10 km with latitude 25.5 degrees north and longitude 91.3 degrees east, reports said.
