It is to be mentioned here that the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is likely to be tabled in the Lok Sabha on December 10 by the Central government.
Interestingly, the day coincides with ‘Shahid Diwas’ of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU). Kargeswar Talukdar was the first to be martyred on December 10, 1979, during the Assam agitation.
The announcement of the amendment of the Citizenship Bill has created a panic situation in the entire northeastern region as the contiguous bill leads to a serious threat to the people of the entire region.
All the states of Northeast have launched a massive agitation against the move of the central government demanding to scrap of the bill.
