Bordoloi further accused the ruling BJP party of wanting to create two wars – one between Hindus and Muslims, and one between all Hindus. “And thus, they want us to dilute the identity in Assam”, he said.

Adding her insight, Sangeeta Baruah Pisharoty, author of Assam Accord — The Discord, stated that, ironically, the BJP came to power in Assam by blaring the slogans of Jati, Mati, Bheti and to solve the fear of the indigenous. “But what it is doing is increasing the fear of one’s identity”, Pisharoty asserted.

However, the Tripura Deputy CM, Jishnu DevVarm stated that the people are seeing a “ghost” with the Citizenship Bill, which is a “dangerous matter”.

He said that the CAB is not negating the Assam Accord. Assam accord setss 1971 but BJP wants to do the CAB based on a much later year, the Deputy Chief Minister said.

Ninong Ering, Arunachal MLA, said that  fear has now set in in Arunachal as well, and people are ready to protest against the Citizenship Bill, “Congress always protected us but now I am fearing if the CAB will be forced and ILP will go”, Ering expressed.
