AJYCP leaders Rana Pratap Baruah (President) and Palash Changmai (General Secretary) turned down heavily on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and their resolve to pass the allegedly ‘communal’ Bill in the Parliament and turn it into a law.
The student organization, decrying the Bill, stated that they will never allow it to be passed in Parliament. Moreover, the two leaders of the student body heavily condemned Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) party, for their apparent indifference to the Bill.
The AJYCP further urged the people of the state to step out of their houses in these times of “crisis” for the people of Assam, and added that the organization would continue to oppose the Bill at all costs.
The AJYCP further stated that the martyrdom of 855 people who participated in the Assam Agitation shall be in vain if the Bill is enacted.
