Renowned filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, who is on his first visit to Assam as one of the key dignitaries of the Guwahati International Film Festival, has said that it has been his “dream always” to be in Assam and Guwahati, and it has finally come true. Bhandarkar also laid emphasis on how the film industry can generate employment for the talents of Assam.

Talking exclusively to Inside Northeast about the Assam Government’s initiative to invite national talents to come shoot in Assam, Bhandarkar said that development of the film industry in Assam will mean that the local talents of Assam will get a break and it will generate employment for the youths anbd the artists. “There are lots of talents in Assam — whether it be actors, directors, or singers, they will all get opportunities”, Bhandarkar said.
Speaking about the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Bhandarkar said that the CM is very “updated” about the film industry, overall. Bhandarkar further added that he has given many suggestions to the Chief Minister Sonowal, which has been duly taken note of.
Speaking about his suggestion to the CM for a ‘single window’ to make the shooting of films easier, Bhandarkar said, “I met the honorable CM yesterday and I spoke about the thing and he has already made a film policy which I really appreciate.”
