Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, received the ’Global Goalkeeper Award’ for the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ (Clean India Mission) from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Gates Foundation, in a Twitter post, said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the Global Goalkeeper Award at tonight’s Goalkeepers Global Goals Awards. This award recognizes the progress India has made in providing safe sanitation under his leadership.

Speaking at the event, Modi said that the global honor belongs to the crores of Indians who not only fulfilled the ‘Swachh Bharat’ (Clean India) dream but also made it a part of their daily lives.

It may be mentioned here that PM Modi and other leaders launched a UN postage stamp of Mahatma Gandhi during the ‘Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in the Contemporary World’ programme held at the UN headquarters.

Mentioning the principles set by Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, Modi further said “Martin Luther King Junior and Nelson Mandela’s policies and ideologies were based on Mahatma Gandhi’s vision. Gandhi ji never tried to create influence through his life, but it became a source of inspiration. We are living in an era of ‘how to impress’, but Gandhi ji’s vision was ‘how to inspire’’.
