Gogoi turned down heavily on the BJP government on the rising crime against women in the state after the alleged assault by police personnel.
Addressing the media, Tarun Gogoi said, “In the name of Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao, the crime against women in the state is increasing day by day.”
“We are not happy with the suspension of the accused Sub Inspector and the lady Constable. They must be arrested and punished,” he added.
Gogoi has demanded strict action by the Human Rights Commission and Women’s Commission against the accused immediately.
They were, reportedly, picked from their residence in Guwahati and taken to Burha Police Outpost after the Police were unable to trace their brother.
The Police were in search of their brother, who allegedly fled with a woman. The latter’s family had filed a complaint in the Burha Police Outpost in Darrang.
It is to be mentioned that pregnant woman, along with her two sisters were allegedly stripped and tortured in Burha Police Outpost in Assam’s Darrang district.
