On Tuesday, it came to the notice of the local authorities of Kokrajhar district that some highly objectionable and derogatory contents/links as well as morphed photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were being shared online.

On the basis of this information, Case No: 98/2019 U/S 120(B)/153/153(A)/294/506 IPC R/W Sec. 66 IT Act, 2000 was registered at the Fakiragram Police Station in Kokrajhar.
During detail investigation corroborated by technical analysis, it was found that Aziyar Rahman, a resident of Fakiragram in Kokrajhar district in Assam had uploaded and shared the objectionable content in his Facebook account.
Subsequently, a search operation was carried out by Kokrajhar Police and the accused, Aziyar Rahman, was apprehended from Shakti Ashram market area under Fakiragram Police Station in Kokrajhar.
On spot interrogation, he admitted that he is the sole admin of the Facebook account and had uploaded as well as shared objectionable and derogatory content and photos in his timeline.
He was brought to Fakiragram Police Station for detailed interrogation and the following items were seizedfrom him; one MI Note 5 mobile handset, two SIM cards (one BSNL and one Reliance JIO). After interrogation, he was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the above mentioned case. Further investigation is on.
