Sipajhar, July 30, 2019:

Two declared Bangladeshis have been apprehended at Sipajhar in Assam’s Darrang district on Monday. They were arrested while they were on a visit to a National Register of Citizens (NRC) Seva Kendra for registering their names in the NRC.

The duo were identified as Bangladeshi nationals as they had visited the NSK centre under Sipajhar Circle Office for registering their name in the NRC and were apprehended by police.

The apprehendees have been identified as Saijuddin Ali and Abdul Khalque and have claimed themselves to be residents of Kirakara area under Sipajhar Police Station.

Both revealed they had earlier resided in Kalgasia of Barpeta district and recently shifted to Sipajhar. The two Bangladeshis moved to Sipajhar at a very young age along with their father Nizamuddin Ali and mother, got married and settled there.

On the other hand, a Foreigners Tribunal of Mangaldoi in a hearing under case no. 24/17 and 25/17 declared both as foreigners on August 23, 2018. The FT also directed the duo to shift from their place of residence.

Meanwhile, the Border Police have been searching for these two absconding Bangladeshi nationals who were trying to get their names registered in the NRC.
