Not only this, the big-hearted star has donated a further Rupees one crore to the Chief Minister’s relief fund.

Saying that he is “heartbroken” to know about the devastation caused by the floods across 30 districts in the state, the Bollywood hunk has offered to donate a crore each for the rescue efforts at Kaziranga and also for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, totalling a sum of Rupees two crores. Reason for the people of Assam to rejoice?

Taking to social media platform Twitter, the ‘Khiladi’ wrote: “Absolutely heartbreaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. All affected, humans or animals, deserve support in this hour of crisis.I’d like to donate 1cr each to the CM Relief Fund & for Kaziranga Park rescue.”

Akshay Kumar has also implored his 31.2 million followers to make contributions for those affected by floods in the state, and added the donation link for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to his tweet.

Meanwhile, ‘Awesome Assam’ brand ambassador Priyanka Chopra has come under heavy criticism for her alleged apathy towards the plight of Assam.

Following the backlash, she tweeted out in support of the flood victims of Assam and urged her fans to “donate”, but she herself is yet to announce any donations for flood relief measures in the Northeastern state.
