As per reports, the bombing has been claimed by the Taliban which appeared to target a military base. The incident took place at around 8.30 a.m. near a local base of the National Directorate of Security in Ghazni city of Afghanistan.

Among the 12 people, eight were security personnel, and rest four civilians. Whereas, 80 people mostly schoolchildren were injured in the powerful bombing, said reports. All were rushed to the hospital.

However, possibilities are there that the number of casualties may rise.
Media reports said that Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement.

Mujahid said, “A key base of the National Directorate of Security in Ghazni city was targeted by a martyrdom-seeking attacker using a VBIED (vehicle-borne improvised explosive device).”

This dastardly attack came on the same day that a round of intra-Afghan peace talks commenced in Qatar between the insurgents and a delegation including members of the Kabul government that took part in an unofficial and personal capacity.
