Narendra Modi visited Sri Lanka as the final leg of his two day nation tour. PM Modi was received by his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe at the airport.
Reaching the airport, Modi took to his social media and tweeted, “Happy to be back in Sri Lanka, my third visit to this beautiful island in four years. Share the warmth shown by the people of SL in equal measure. India never forgets her friends when they are in need. Deeply touched by the ceremonial welcome.”

Modi visited the St Anthony’s Church in Colombo as a mark of respect to those killed in the Easter terrorist attacks.

Taking to Twitter again, he wrote: “I am confident Sri Lanka will rise again. Cowardly acts of terror cannot defeat the spirit of Sri Lanka. India stands in solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka..”

PM Modi will hold talks with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena. He will also meet Sri Lankan Leader of Opposition and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and members of the Tamil National Alliance.

It is to be mentioned that in the month of April, six serial blasts rocked the capital of the island nation on Easter Sunday. Six back-to-back blasts occurred at churches and hotels, including the Shangri-La hotel.

Three Churches and three high-end hotels were hit in quick succession which led to chaos and mayhem in the island nation.

Later, the islamic fundamentalist group Islamic State (or ISIS) took responsibility for the bombings.
