AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam has claimed discrepancies in the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The Dhing MLA slammed the NRC Objections claiming them to be fraudulent and illegal.

Aminul Islam, while addressing a gathering, said that the many of the Objectors had not turned up at the NRC hearings.

The MLA further queried why hearings should be conducted in the absence of the persons who had raised objections.

He further said such objections should be completely dismissed.

MLA Aminul Islam also alleged that illiterate people are being made to sign misleading statements. “They are being made to sign a statement saying they do not have the requisite documents as alleged by the Objectors”, he alleged.

Islam also said that the last date for filing objections was 31 December, 2018, and the number of Objections rose from 7,000 to 2,70,000 in a matter of mere days.

Islam alleged that many Objections were entered after the final date of filing Objections. He further accused NRC officials of forging signatures in the name of ‘jatiya dayitya’ (indigenous responsibility).

Islam further accused senior student leaders of orchestrating this conspiracy of depriving genuine citizens. He further alleged that the leaders are afraid they will be deprived of their source of income. He also alleged they have been collecting funds in the name of fighting foreigner influx into the State.

Islam further accused the student organisations of being in cahoots with the political parties. He alleged the parties are begging for votes over the foreigner issue, promising to deport illegal encroachers.

The final NRC draft will be published on July 31.
