Guwahati, April 14, 2019:
Hiranya Patari, a former Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) Finance Secretary, who recently joined the BJP party, has again found himself in the midst of a controversy on Sunday.
The student leader, who had accused Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi of taking large sums of money from the Congress and AIUDF parties, was gheraoed by SMSS workers in Rangia in Kamrup (R) district who sought an explanation for his past deeds.
Now, a SMSS worker has alleged that Patari offered him Rs. 70,000 to join the BJP and also gather more supporters for the saffron party during the ongoing elections in the state. “He (Patari) had been calling me for 3-4 days and after I met him, offered me Rs 70,000 to join the BJP and Rs 100 per supporter I can find for the BJP”, said the SMSS member.
Patari, in his defense, said that it was all a “conspiracy” of KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi.
