Guwahati, April 10, 2019:
Assam’s Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has recently come into the limelight for his ‘dancing’ skills, has continued the campaign blitz across the state for the BJP candidates in fray in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. Today, the Finance Minister campaigned at Jhargaon at Jagiroad for Nowgong contender Rupak Sarmah.
Taking a jibe at Congress candidate Pradyut Bordoloi, he said: “Margherita bid adieu to him and he has now come to Nagaon. Nagaon will place him next to the Brahmaputra. Nagaon is the land of brave warriors and martyrs and they will never accept a defeated soldier. A person who has come here after being defeated at Magherita will never be accepted by the land of sacrifice, Nagaon. He will be boycotted by the people of Nagaon, Morigaon, and Hojai. His political career will be finished here.”
The battle for the Lok Sabha throne in Nagaon will be contested between former Congress Minister under the Tarun Gogoi regime Pradyut Bordoloi and BJP MLA Rupak Sarmah.
Nowgong Constituency will head to the polls during the first phase of polls on 11 April.
