Guwahati, March 12, 2019:
Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) youth leader Shukla Charan Noatia on Tuesday confirmed that the party has firm stand over the demand of a separate state. He has also informed that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Ram Madhav will be visiting the state on Wednesday to have a discussion with the IPFT.
Speaking to InsideNE, Shukla Charan Noatia, “Our party’s stand is clear that if we are not in alliance with the BJP, we will contest for both the seats in Tripura. Also, BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav will be visiting tomorrow so after having a discussion with him, the decision will be taken on March 14.”
“The basic demand for the alliance with the BJP is separate state and opposition of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. So, if the manifesto of the IPFT is accepted by the BJP, we will go together,” he added.
Moreover, the IPFT youth leader said that the party will elect a youth leader to contest for the ensuing general elections.
Meanwhile, IPFT President NC Debbarma has stated that if the party is allowed to contest the Tripura East (ST) Lok Sabha Constituency by the BJP, they will continue with the alliance.
