The mind boggles! In pre-election drama within the BJP camp, senior BJP leader and sitting Tezpur Lok Sabha MP Ram Prasad Sarmah has threatened to quit the saffron party if he is not selected to contest the election this time around by the party heads! Sarmah made the announcement amid speculations that he will not be given the BJP ticket to contest the election.

Sarmah’ has made the proclamation as Finance Minister and NEDA Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma’s name has started being floated as the potential BJP candidate to contest the election from Tezpur. As the last date for nomination (as announced by the Election Commission) nears, the BJP is set to announce its list of candidates to contest the elections on March 15.
