Guwahati, 31st January, 2019:
Following the protests over the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 an umbrella organization of 64 civil society bodies from the hill and valley districts of Manipur has called for a 24 hour statewide bandh from Wednesday midnight.
It may be noticed that the 24hour bandh has created huge impact over the state. Moreover normal life has come to a standstill in Manipur. The bandh that was called from Wednesday midnight will be a democratic and a peaceful agitation, as said by the umbrella body. Educational institutions, media, electricity, medical services will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
Taking serious count of the failure of the central government in fulfilling the demands of the North-Eastern states, Manipur, Nagaland and Meghalaya has been continuously opposing the Citizenship Bill that has been already passed in the Lok Sabha.
Recent updates relating to the opposing of the Citizenship Bill says is National Peoples’ Front (NPF) in Manipur is trying to snap ties with BJP in Manipur? The political scenarios may even take turns as NPF is up to re-examine coalition with BJP in Manipur.
