AGP

Guwahati, January 7, 2019:

While Assam is witnessing outrageous situations with thousands of protestors taking to the streets in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 to the extent of stripping off their clothes in emotion, the leaders of the biggest regional party, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP)’, were missing from the scene.

However, true to the proverb, “Better late than never”, the AGP showed up at the very last moment to inflict further wounds on the BJP agenda. Atul Bora made the announcement of breaking alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking from New Delhi, Atul Bora added  , “We tried our best till the last moment and we urged the Centre not to play with the future and betray the people of Assam just for some mere votes but the Centre is prepared to pass the Bill anyhow. The Union Home Minister has confirmed that they will try the best to pass the Bill.”

The leaders of the AGP, who promised of protesting the issues of Jaati, Maati and Bheti of the Axomiya people in alliance with the BJP, had expressed how the state government under the leadership of “Jatiya Nayak” Sarbananda Sonowal has betrayed the people as well as the AGP.

Now it’s a million dollar question whether AASU will withdraw the title of “Jatiya Nayak” from Chief minister Sarbanand Sonowal, as AGP was successful to steal the show at the end.
