Maoti Brahma Hazowary, MCLA & president of Chirang Distric Committee, UPPL along with Nirmal kr Brahma, MCLA & Vice president of Chirang dist committee, UPPL & Rwngwra Narzary, MCLA who were present and Addressing the dharna cites that local people are facing problems in receiving land rights despite the law was enacted in 12 yrs back.

In Chirang forest division there are 5268 claimants in which ST- 4860, OTFD- 408 in which total patta distributed 1216 in which ST- 1189, OTFD- 27 and there are 4052 are under scrutiny. In Haltugaon forest division there total 13290 claimants in which ST- 11201, OTFD- 2089 in which total distributed 152 in which ST-152,OTFD- Nil And user scrutiny 13138.

In Manas park under bhuyanpara Range there are total 12 villages and total families 789& total population 3354. According to them there are hundreds such cases who’s petition has been rejected by the authorities due to absences of few required documents.hundreds of families have not able to claim their land for the negligence of the concerned authority for which many families are left out of the process. Today after the dharna they have submitted their Memorandum to Chirang dist D.C. to Govornor of Assam Prof Jagdish Mukhi & to Chief Minister Sabananda Sonowal.
